eLearning with VR.
Did you know studies have shown students in a virtual reality (VR) environment learn 4x faster, are 3.75x more emotionally connected to the learning content and come out 275% more confident when compared to classroom learning. As a teacher, this means you can concentrate on teaching and improving each student’s unique shortcomings.
More importantly, as an institution putting new police officers into the world you can feel confident that your students understand the latest government mandates and are prepared for whatever the world throws at them.
Our Ready-to-go policing foundations courses cover topics such as:
- Traffic Collision Investigation: Take measurements, capture photos, and collect evidence throughout a range of weather/environment conditions to truly understand what caused the collision.
- Forensic Investigation: Whether you’re dealing with an assault, B&E or drug bust, solid evidence is always key. Use this simulation to practice with the proper tools and techniques needed to solve a crime.
- Conflict De-escalation: Whether a couple is fighting, a parent and child aren’t getting along or someone is having a mental health crisis, every situation you approach is unique. But with proper training, you’ll have the communication skills required to keep both yourself and others safe, no matter the situation.
Our featured case study:
VR eLearning Materials for Policing Students
Conestoga College, an academic institution known for combining theory and simulation-based experiences, to teach students through a person-centered approach to community policing, approached XpertVR to create eLearning materials for their students.
The initiative combined the skills of XpertVR and Conestoga’s VAR Lab to develop a simulation that allowed students to apply deductive and investigative skills to realistic crime scenarios.
Our 3 step eLearning process.
You may be wondering, “how can XpertVR be so skilled at creating VR simulations but also understand police training so deeply? It can’t be possible!?” And you’re right! We understand we’re the VR experts and not the experts of every other industry. That is why we have a 3 step process we follow for every simulation we develop. Well, it’s more of an 11 step process (which we’re happy to share) but for simplicity’s sake here it is in 3 steps.
1. Industry eXpert Meeting:
Before we start anything we sit down with a range of industry eXperts, including: police officers, professors, counsellors & more. This allows us to understand the in’s and out’s of the curriculum you teach.
2. eXpert Storytelling:
Every real-world scenario has a story. Who was behind a crime and why? What is someone going through and what has triggered them? So, why don’t virtual scenarios tell those stories as well? At XpertVR our creative team of developers and artists take what they learned from the industry eXperts and turn eLearning simulations into eLearning stories.
3. eXpert Feedback:
But we can’t be perfect every time so while designing, building and finalizing our simulations we ensure we schedule regular meetings with industry eXperts and pedagogy designers. This ensures that by the time we deliver a final simulation, it is the best on the market.
